This reminds me of an old Russian anecdote. A man prayed every day for years: "God, please let me win the lottery. God, please let me win the lottery. God, please let me win the lottery." Eventually, after years of hearing the same request, God finally appeared—clearly exasperated—and said, "Please... stop. Just buy the ticket."
Sometimes the first condition for luck isn't hustle, expertise, or reputation. It's simply entering the system in which luck can occur.
Sometimes you read something that doesn't introduce a completely new idea, but gives structure to something you've been feeling for a long time. That's what this did for me. I recently wrote a piece called 2,000 Chances that explores a similar relationship between persistence and luck. I was genuinely intrigued by how closely our thoughts converged. Thanks for your insights. So much of success is linked to timing when something in the eco system or work environment makes it easier for your product skill or service to be in demand and appreciated. At 75 and with massive list of what people call failures the redemption came from "investment in time" and whatever the failure ... Time resolved it if one did not give up too early. So "gestation" must and will become your biggest investment in any project. These days no one seems to give or have time and so it's just giving up too early that has prevented success.

I love this. These categories of luck are true. However, luck number one is rare. However, I think the four lucks go hand-in-hand.
